What is Retina?
Retina is the innermost layer of the eye and is light sensitive in nature. When we see an object, the light rays pass through the
lens in our eyes and fall on the retina. They get converted into neural signals/impulses here and the optic nerve carries these visual stimuli
to the brain that translates them back as images.
Retina has two types
1. Peripheral retina
2. Central Macula
Retina Surgery
A retina clinic is fully equipped with the newest generation of retina diagnostics such as Non- Mydriatic Fundus
camera that captures the image of retina without the help of dilating drops & an OCT (Optical coherence tomography) that provides micron resolution scans of the retina.
For macular edema
we provide intravitreal injections such as Avastin/ Lucentis/Aflibercept (Eylea). Macular edema is the build-up of fluid in the macula, i.e., the center of the retina.
This fluid build-up causes the macula to swell and thicken, which distorts vision.
Problems & Diseases
Some of the common diseases are :
- 1. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)
- 2. Hypertensive Retinoapthy (HR)
- 3. Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- 4. Retinal Detachment (RD)
- 5. Hole in Retina
- 6. Age Related Macular Degeneration
- 7. Macular Oedema
- 8. Vitreous Haemaharrage
- 9. Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP)
- 10. Retinal Tumours etc.
